At 3:16 a.m. on Nov. 3, 2018, Logansport Police Department was dispatched to the 1600 block of Erie Ave. in reference to shots fired at that location. Upon officers arrival, they found Calvin Burton, Jr., 44, in the roadway in the 1600 block of Erie Ave., suffering from gunshot wounds. Burton was transported from the scene to Logansport Memorial Hospital by Prompt Ambulance Service, then airlifted to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne where he is listed in critical condition.
Logansport Police have arrested Brandon Shaver, 28, of Logansport, for aggravated battery. He is currently being held in the Cass County jail. Police say Shaver was located at his parents’ house in Logansport.
Police say according to witnesses, Burton and Shaver had been in an argument and fight inside the Corner Pub at 17th St. and Erie Ave. just prior to the shooting.
The case is still under investigation. The Logansport Police Department was assisted by the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.
