Mayoral appointments to the Logansport Housing Authority, Logansport Planning Commission and Cass County Visitors Bureau Board were released Wednesday.

Jennifer Barron, an assistant manager for Security Federal Savings Bank’s Logansport Mall branch, will succeed Jay Jones on the Logansport Housing Authority. Barron is a Lewis Cass High School graduate and recently completed the Logansport Leadership Academy sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. She resides in Logansport and she and her husband have five children. She attends Revolution Community Church.

Sunday Htoo, a part-time employee, has been appointed to succeed Dave Oresik on the Logansport Planning Commission. Oresik recently resigned due to a work schedule conflict. Htoo is a student at Ivy Tech Community College and attends Karen Baptist Church. She has lived in Logansport for the past five years and is a native of Thailand.

Jane Horner, a Cass County Extension Educator, will succeed Molly McBride on the visitors bureau board, which administers funds generated through the local innkeeper tax to promote area tourism. She also completed the recent Leadership Academy. She is married to a former Cass Extension Educator, Gary Horner.

“In Jennifer, we have someone who will be another needed liaison between the banking community and the housing market,” Mayor Dave Kitchell said.

“Sunday brings the perspective of a non-traditional student into city government, and she has an interest in ensuring our Census count in 2020 will be accurate, and that’s part of our role in city government.

“Jane’s involvement with the rural areas of Cass County should help promote agritourism in north central Indiana, and that’s a rapidly growing area of the tourism and hospitality area statewide,” Kitchell said.

A Logansport firefighter will succeed Chief Bernie Mittica as the city’s representative on a county-wide body that organizes emergency response.

Levi Pullen was appointed Thursday to a one-year term on the Cass County Emergency Management Agency Council. It’s the first appointment for Pullen and the last appointment made by Mayor Dave Kitchell’s office for 2019.

“Levi has excelled as many of our younger firefighters have in some intense, critical situations,” Kitchell said. “Chief Mittica has served well in working collaborate with county emergency response personnel and we look forward to involving more city public safety representatives like Levi in the council and emergency management activities that require us to combine forces.”
