E-911, animal control calls in Cass County down since 2015

Central Dispatch personnel for the community’s emergency call system fielded 17,792 calls last year.

That total is down more than 14 percent since 2015 when there were 20,744 calls, according to information provided at the Cass County E-911 Board meeting Tuesday.

The number of texts to E-911 also has dropped since 2016 from 1,501 to 926. Information indicates most calls are being placed via cellular phones. In January, personnel answered 1,309 calls of which 1,083 were placed through wireless devices.

A report to the board also indicated the number of animal control calls combined for the city and county are down more than 23 percent since 2015 – 22 percent in the city.
