Logansport is becoming a statistical oasis in measures of quality of life.

In the second annual rankings by HomeSnacks.net, the city has risen from 13th to eighth place in the rankings for the best communities in Indiana to retire.

The same ratings service names Logansport the 20th best place in the state to raise a family, ranking just behind Columbus. No other city in surrounding counties ranked higher than Logansport, and West Lafayette and Lafayette both ranked lower. Peru ranked 45th and Kokomo was 55th. Chesterton was ranked first.

Most of the top 20 was concentrated in the Indianapolis vicinity or the Region in Northwest Indiana with the exception of Plymouth, Frankfort, Jasper and Columbus.

Cass County was named the 36th best county in the state. In comparison with surrounding counties, only Miami and Howard ranked higher.
