Logansport native raises $21,000 for St. Baldrick’s Foundation

CARMEL, Ind. – Merchants Bank of Indiana chairman and CEO, Mike Petrie, a Logansport native, recently partnered with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to raise funds to help find cures for children with cancer. Petrie’s fundraising campaign brought in donations totaling over $10,000 to help find a cure. He then personally matched those donations for a total contribution of $21,184.86!

On Friday, March 22, Petrie participated in the St. Baldrick’s Foundation’s “Brave the Shave” event in Indianapolis to further benefit childhood cancer research. Petrie, along with several other fundraisers, ended the campaign by shaving their heads in support of the Foundation’s cause. To recognize his outstanding involvement, Petrie was named ‘Top Fundraiser’ for the 2019 campaign and awarded a gold medal of honor. In total, the event raised nearly $121,400 for childhood cancer research.

In addition to his work with St. Baldrick’s Foundation, Petrie is active in the banking and finance industry, as well as in the Indianapolis community. Mr. Petrie currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, the Indiana Affordable Housing Council (IAHC), and the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership (INHP).

Additionally, he serves on the National Board for the IU Varsity Club and the Advisory Board for the IU Center for Real Estate Studies. Petrie serves on the Board of Directors and is President of Highland Golf and Country Club, the Highland Golf Academy Foundation, Inc., and the Highland Golf Country Club Foundation, Inc. Petrie is the founder and Chairman Emeritus of Merchants Affordable Housing Corp, a 501c3 not-for-profit Affordable Housing provider operating more than 2,500 units in Indiana.
