Logansport Memorial Hospital physicians, leaders and clinicians gathered last weekto celebrate the Center of Distinction Award, which was given to Logansport Memorial Hospital Wound Care Center by Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. The Center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for twelve consecutive months, including patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent, and a minimum wound healing rate of at least 91 percent within 30 median days to heal. There were 621 Centers eligible for the Center of Distinction award and 423 achieved the honor.

“We are so pleased that our Wound Care Center has achieved this prestigious designation,” comments Perry Gay, President and CEO of Logansport Memorial Hospital. “From the very beginning, our Wound Care Center providers and staff have been dedicated to delivering exceptional care for the patients we serve, and this national award truly recognizes their efforts. We are very proud of their commitment to high-quality care for our patients and our community.”

The Logansport Memorial Hospital Wound Care Center is a member of the Healogics network of nearly 700 Wound Care Centers® and provides access to benchmarking data and proven experience treating approximately 2.5 million chronic wounds. The Logansport Memorial Hospital Wound Care Center offers highly specialized wound care forpatients suffering from several types of chronic wounds, such as diabetic ulcers, post-surgical wounds, and soft-tissue radiation wounds. The Wound Care Center also has two state-of-the-art Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Chambers to offer advanced wound healing, enabling the medical use of oxygen at the highest levels of purity to promote circulation and tissue growth.

“Being named a recipient for ‘Center of Distinction’ by Healogics is extremely rewarding,” says Leslie Schwab, RN, MSN, Program Director for the Logansport Memorial Wound Care Center. “We would not have achieved this distinction without the visionary support from the Logansport Memorial Executive Team and the exceptional care delivered by our staff and team of multi-disciplinary providers in the Wound Care Center. The partnership between LMH and Healogics has brought the expertise, experience, and resources needed for top-tier wound care directly to the community where patients can benefit from highly specialized care close to home. When we are able to work closely with a patient and achieve healing for them, it is truly something we all celebrate together. We are proud to have worked with every patient who has been part of our 91% wound healing rate and we look forward to working with many more in the years to come.”
