At their meeting on May 20, 2019, the Logansport Board of Zoning Appeals considered a request from Inovateus Solar LLC to allow solar energy systems at 1441 Holland St.

The property is located at the corner of Market Street and Holland Street, and north of Cole Hardwood, on the west side of Logansport.

The petitioner requested a use variance for the property zoned B4, general business. Special exception is required for the rest of the land, which is zoned I1, light industrial.

Studies regarding noise and glare were provided for consideration as part of the application. The Logansport Planning Department recommended approval with conditions that all proposals of the petitioner be made conditions of approval; that all other standards of the ordinance be met; that all applicable state and local permits be obtained and proof be given to the Zoning Administrator; and that the PPA with LMU be submitted to the planning department before a permit is issued.

The Logansport Board of Zoning Appeals approved the request, with completion of a drainage study before and after construction to make sure drainage hasn’t changed, maintaining 70 percent of the north tree line on the property, chain link fence around the site and further review by planning staff if any lighting would be added in the future, as additional commitments of approval.

The Logansport Board of Zoning Appeals also approved a special exception to allow for retail trade of portable storage buildings at 1205 E. Market and a variance from development standards to allow for the construction of a garage at 124 W. Roselawn Ave.
