Summer Activities in Cass County

We’re excited to share youth summer camps and programs happening in or open to Cass County kids.

Logansport Parks Department Cass County Track & Field Program

Registration: May 29 & 30 @ LHS Stadium 5:00 pm
No cost to participants
Ages: 4-15 yrs.
Instructor: Jennifer Musall
Practice will be every Monday & Wednesday from 6 – 7 pm. beginning June 3rd.through July 17th at the LHS Stadium. The Track Meet will be held Saturday, July 20th @ 10:00 am
Events include: 100,200,400,800,1600 meter run, 4×4 relays, standing long jump and softball throw.

Tennis Lessons

K – 5th Grade – 5-6 pm
6th – 9th Grade – 6-7:30 pm

Junior Golf Clinic

June 24th through June 27th
Ages: 5-9 yrs. from 5 – 5:45 pm
Ages: 10 – 14 yrs from 6-7 pm
Cost: $30.00

Swim Lessons

Cost per session is $30
4 sessions that include 8-half hour classes which run from Tuesday through Friday for two weeks. Saturdays are made available as make-up days.
Sessions: 1/June 4-14 2/June 18-28 3/July 2-12 4/July 16-26
Morning Lessons: 10-10:30; 10:30-11; 11:05-11:35 am and are offered during session 2 and 4.
Evening Lessons: 6-6:30; 6:35-7:05 pm and are offered during sessions 1 and 3.

Free Summer Sack Lunches are available to students under 18 during the months of June and July on Monday thru Thursday at the following locations:

Tuesdays and Thursdays 11 a.m. to noon at Franklin Elementary School-lunches provided by Vineyard Community Church

Free Summer Movies at Mary Max Cinemas

All movies begin at 10am on Wed., Thur. and Fri. mornings with FREE ADMISSION for everyone! Doors open at 9am and seating is limited so early arrival encouraged.

GEARING UP FOR GIRLS STEM CAMP AT IVY TECH KOKOMO

The deadline to register for this year’s Gearing Up Girls for STEM summer camp at Ivy Tech Community College Kokomo has been extended to May 22. The camp, designed for girls going into the sixth to eighth grades, offers great opportunities for campers to have fun and expand their knowledge in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Presented by the FCA US Transmission & Casting Women’s Group, in partnership with Ivy Tech, the two-day camp sessions offered hands-on experiences in subjects ranging from anatomy to material science, rockets to robots, and design of experiments to food science fun.

Two sessions are being offered: June 3 and 4 or June 6 and 7, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Ivy Tech’s Automotive Technology building at 1942 E. North St. Cost is $25 per student, which includes breakfast and lunch both camp days, with a $5 discount for returning students. Parents and guardians can sign up campers by contacting Susan Turrill at sturrill@ivytech.edu or 765-252-5497 by May 22.

The program, in its second year, is expanding with the support of FCA, UAW Local 1302, UAW Local 685 Retirees, UAW 685 Women’s Group, Ironmonger Spring, Mahar Tool Supply, Button Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, First Farmers Bank, St. Vincent Kokomo, Haynes International, Caron & Jones Dental Care, Harvey Performance, Indiana Pit Martial Arts and Fitness, Security Federal Savings Bank, and Solidarity Federal Credit Union. 

SUMMER DAY CAMPS AT IU KOKOMO

With topics ranging from culinary arts to nursing, health and fitness to chemistry, students from kindergarten through high school will be engaged in active learning with IU Kokomo’s professors and students.

In the athletic department, the men’s and women’s basketball teams, soccer and volleyball teams will help young athletes enhance their skills while enjoying their games, with the campus’s largest-ever offering of sports camps.
