In 2015, Terry Doran ran as a Democrat and was elected to one of Logansport’s two at-large seats on the Logansport City Council. In 2018, he ran for State Representative in House District 23 as a Democrat.

On Saturday, Doran announced that he plans to run as an independent candidate for Logansport mayor. Doran also said that he plans to appoint Teresa Popejoy, a Republican who has served two four-year terms on the Logansport City Council, as Deputy Mayor.

Dave Kitchell, who was elected mayor in 2015, is seeking re-election as the Democrat candidate for mayor and was unopposed in the primary.

The Republican candidate for mayor, Chris Martin, was also unopposed in the primary.

Noon on Sunday, June 30 is the deadline for the Democratic or Republican parties to select candidates to fill vacancies on the municipal election ballot resulting from no candidate being nominated at a primary. It’s also the deadline for the Libertarian party to nominate candidates.

Noon on Monday, July 1 is the deadline for an independent or minor party candidate to file a petition of nomination with a county voter registration office for verification of petition signatures.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019.
