Bean, Ulery, Grisez honored for public safety

Last Updated on December 4, 2019 by City of Logansport – Mayor's Office

Three veteran members of the police and fire departments were recognized for their service to the city Friday night at the fourth annual Light Up Logansport Parade.

Lt. Ray Bean, a 30-year member of the Logansport Police Department, was named Police Officer of the Year. He has served in the Detective Division and in the Investigation Division prior to serving in his current capacity in the Traffic Division.

Firefighters Greg Ulery and Rob Grisez were named Co-Firefighters of the Year. Grisez is scheduled to retire next year. He is known as a good-hearted firefighter who has been supportive of the department and never recognized for many of the things he has done during his career. Ulery received several nominations from the public for his work not only within the department, but in the community.

“At a time of the year when we all count our blessings for the many things we have, these awards are emblematic of how thankful we are for the police and firefighters who commit their careers to protecting our city and serving our citizens,” Mayor Dave Kitchell said. “The public has made it clear that the contributions of these three men have not gone unnoticed, and they’re special people who have gone above and beyond as loyal public safety employees.”

Each of the men was presented a plaque from the city.
