“Politics was something that I never saw myself being actively involved with, however, after retirement my thoughts have changed. After much deliberation and discussion, it is now time for me to give back to the community that I have been a part of for my entire life,” says Ruth Baker. “After 39 years of teaching and retiring from Logansport Community School Corporation, I feel compelled to run for county commissioner of the 1st District of Cass County, Indiana. I will be that someone who represents District One who will listen to the people, remain vigilant, follow the laws, and work with other people in our county, in the surrounding counties, and the city of Logansport in order to make Cass County the best that it can be. I feel that I have those qualifications.”

Ruth Baker is married to Rob Baker and they are fifth generation farmers of Cass County. They are the parents of three children who were raised in Harrison Township and they have three grandchildren. Baker is also a partner of the Baker Brothers Farming operation. She attends Lucerne Zion United Methodist Church.
