Car versus motorcycle crash results in single fatality

On Friday, May 21, 2021, at approximately 10:13 p.m. Cass County Central Dispatch received numerous calls of a two-vehicle motorcycle crash at the intersection of State Road 25 and County Road 525 North.

Deputy Tyler Hanna responded to the crash along with several other deputies and public safety agencies. The assisting agencies included Logansport Police Department, Logansport Fire Department, Twelve Mile Fire Department, Harrison Township Fire Department, Cass County Emergency Management Agency, Phoenix Ambulance Service and the Cass County Coroner’s Office.

Initial scene assessment found a southbound vehicle was turning eastbound onto County Road 525 North and was struck by a northbound motorcycle.

Greg Duval, age 61 of rural Logansport, IN, was driving a 2010 Ford Escort southbound on State Road 25 and attempting to turn eastbound on County Road 525 North. Kelsie Biltz, age 26 of Rochester, IN, was driving a 2016 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle northbound on State Road 25 approaching the interstation of County Road 525 North. The Kawasaki motorcycle stuck the passenger side of the Ford Escort as the Ford driver was turning eastbound. The driver of the motorcycle was transported from the scene to Logansport Memorial Hospital by Phoenix Ambulance personnel. Kelsie Biltz was pronounced deceased at the hospital from her injuries. Mr. Duval was uninjured in the crash. The family has been notified.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office and Logansport Police Department dispatched crash reconstruction units to assist at the scene. The intersection was closed for approximately three hours for the investigation.
