There’s a lot of work happening in Logansport this summer.
Here are a few projects we snapped some photos of today and earlier this week.
The Main Street Revitalization Program grant (and the local match and funding from property owners) will transform the exteriors of several downtown buildings. Scaffolding is up and work is underway right now at Legacy Outfitters/Black Dog Coffee, La Fiesta, Pear Tree Gallery, Judy’s GoodLife and the State Theatre (pictured above).
The building on 4th Street, south of the Farmer’s Market lot is coming down, and the Gateway Arch from Little Turtle Waterway will be going up on 4th Street in front of The Depot.
Construction on the expansion of the Cass County Jail is continuing on High Street between 3rd and 4th Streets.
Demolition of the former water plant on the west side of Riverside Park is also underway. (This plant treated water from the Eel River. It was decommissioned in late 2013 due to the plant being outdated. The city’s water is now provided from a well field distribution system.)
The SR 25 / Burlington Avenue / 3rd Street Bridge between Biddle’s Island and Melbourne Avenue is also closed for construction, and more demolition work is expected soon at the former Logansport Mall.
