The following information was provided by Gundrum Funeral Home in Logansport, Grissom Air Reserve Base and the Indiana State Police:

SUNDAY, SEPT. 12: Procession for Fallen Marine Corporal Humberto Sanchez

The body of Marine Corporal Humberto A. “Bert” Sanchez will arrive at Grissom Air Reserve Base at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Sunday Sept. 12, 2021.

Marines from Communication Company, Detachment 1, Combat Logistics Regiment 45 at Grissom will perform the dignified transfer from the arriving aircraft to the awaiting hearse for transport to a Logansport, Indiana funeral home.

The dignified transfer is not a ceremony; rather, it is a solemn movement of the casket by a carry team composed of military personnel from the fallen member’s respective service.

A dignified transfer is conducted for every U.S. military member who dies in the theater of operation while in the service of their country. A senior ranking officer of the fallen member’s service presides over each dignified transfer.

Photography on base is limited to public affairs staff only.
