LMU announces planned intermittent electric outage for Sept. 30, 2021

The Logansport Municipal Utilities’ electric department will be making system improvements on Thursday, September 30 that require planned intermittent electric outages for multiple homes.

System improvements include replacing damaged poles. The project will begin as early as 8 a.m. and should be completed before early afternoon.

The affected homes will be on the east side of Western Avenue from West Wabash Avenue to
Lockwood Street.

This extended outage includes:

-West Wabash from Western Avenue to Lockwood Street
-Lockwood Street from West Wabash Avenue to Helm Street
-West side of Seybold Street from Wabash Avenue to Melbourne Street.

Residents are advised to prepare for the planned outage with the following tips:
-Have a plan to maintain use of any medical equipment dependent on electricity
-Charge cell phones
-Unplug computers, televisions, and sensitive electronics.
-Notify your home security company.
-Know how to manually operate garage doors and electric gates.
-Minimize opening refrigerator and freezer doors during the outage.
-Turn off all heat-producing appliances (stoves, toaster ovens, irons, hair curlers, etc)

Logansport Municipal Utilities is committed to making system improvements that will increase electric reliability and decrease emergency power outages. Crews will work as quickly, while being safe, to restore power as soon as possible.
