Indiana State Police employees receive service awards

Peru – On Dec. 8, Lieutenant T.J. Zeiser, district commander of the Indiana State Police Peru Post, recognized multiple Indiana State Police troopers for their continued excellent service to the community during a meeting of the Indiana State Police at the Peru Post.

Senior Trooper A.J Coffee of Grant County was recognized for 350,000 safe driving miles. Senior Trooper Jeremy Perez, of Grant County, was recognized for 250,000 safe driving miles. Trooper Chad Babbs, of Cass County, Trooper Abigail Russell, of Miami County, and Trooper Kyle Miller, of Howard County, were recognized for 150,000 safe driving miles. Trooper Dukengston Lavache, Wabash County, was recognized for 50,000 safe driving miles. 

Each officer was issued a certificate recognizing their accomplishment. 

Troopers drive their police cars approximately 40,000 miles per year. They are recognized for safe driving starting at 50,000 miles.

Also, at the meeting, the Indiana State Police Peru Post employees held their almost annual “Peru Post Chili Cook-Off.” There were nine entries, with Detective Wendell Beachy winning bragging rights, for the second time, with his homemade chili. Captain Jeremy Kelly was recognized for winning the annual horse tournament.
