Lewis Cass Schools seeking candidates to fill vacancy on Board of Trustees

Lewis Cass Schools sent information on January 18, 2022 regarding a vacancy on the Lewis Cass School Board of Trustees. The letter from Board President Ryan Zeck can be found here (PDF).

According to the letter, Amy Miller began her second term in January 2021 but has made the decision to resign from the Lewis Cass School Board of Trustees effective February 15, 2022.

Per Indiana code and the school policy, the vacancy must be filled within 30 days of the opening, or by March 17, 2022. The letter states that the board plans to fill be position by mid-February.

Those interested in applying should submit a letter of interest no later than January 31, 2022 to Ryan Zeck, Lewis Cass School Board President. Letters can be e-mailed to zeckr@lewiscass.net or dropped off at the corporation office. Candidates will be contacted to confirm a meeting date on February 9, 2022 and a candidate will be selected at the February 16, 2022 board meeting.

The letter of interest should include contact information, confirmation that you meet the qualifications of the position and a brief narrative as to why you would be the best candidate to fill the opening.

Qualified candidates:
Should reside in Miami Township and be in the Lewis Cass school district (for a minimum of 1 year)
Be a registered voter in Miami Township, Cass County, IN
Cannot be a current employee of Lewis Cass Schools
Cannot be convicted of a felony
Mus tbe 21 years of age and willing to file a statement of economic impact.

Lewis Cass Schools has five districts, with one elected board member from each district.
