Update from Cass County Sheriff’s Department on single vehicle accident on SR 16

On Thursday, January 20, 2022, at approximately 11:12 a.m., Cass County Central Dispatch received a call of a single vehicle crash on State Road 16 east of State Road 25 at the large gravel pile. Sergeant Pat Zeider responded to the crash along with several other deputies and public safety agencies. The assisting agencies included the Indiana State Police, Logansport Police Department, Logansport Fire Department, Twelve Mile Fire Department, Harrison Township Fire Department, Cass County Emergency Medical Services and the Cass County Coroner’s Office. Initial scene assessment found an eastbound vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a large pile of gravel on the south side of the roadway and west of County Road 500 East.

Evidence at the scene indicated a silver 2010 Nissan Cube was eastbound on State Road 16 when the driver travelled off of the south side of the roadway ultimately losing control of the vehicle and struck a large pile of gravel. The vehicle rolled over and landed upright on the south side of the rock pile. An occupant of the vehicle was ejected and found near the Nissan. Deputies are still trying to ascertain the time of the crash as well as if any other occupants were involved in the incident.

Trudie Harrison, 53, of Twelve Mile, IN, was pronounced deceased at the scene from her injuries. The family has been notified.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office and Logansport Police Department dispatched crash reconstruction units to assist at the scene. The crash is still under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s Department. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 574-753-7800.
