Congratulations to members of the LHS Speech Team for placing 1st at Rossville’s virtual tournament on Saturday, February 5, 2022.
Top honors were awarded to:
Luna Tafolla: 1st in POI, 1st in Informative and 4th in Radio
Halle VanCuren: 1st in Radio and 3rd in Info
Celeste Gomez: 2nd in Informative and 5th in Radio
Myah Yax: 1st in Prose and Drama
Elijah Bault: 2nd in Prose
Jasmine Zimmerman: 3rd in Radio
Four Varsity members of the LHS Speech Team competed at the Rossville Stingers asynchronous tournament on January 28, where they earned 2nd as a team.
Individual honors went to:
Myah Yax: 3rd in prose and 2nd in Drama
Celeste Gomez: 3rd in Informative & Radio
Luna Tafolla: 1st in POI & 2nd in Informative & Radio
Halle VanCuren: 1st in Informative & Radio
PICTURED ABOVE: The LHS Speech Team traveled to Penn HS and earned 5th out of 17 schools on January 22. Halle VanCuren was named Informative Champion and tied for 6th in Broadcasting.
Additional finalists were:
Jasmine Zimmerman: 3rd in Novice Broadcasting and 2nd in Novice Prose;
Nick Todd: 3rd in Discussion; Moo Paw: 4th in Discussion; Celeste Gomez: 3rd in Broadcasting and 4th in Informative; and Luna Tafolla: 3rd in Informative and 2nd in POI.
ABOVE: The LHS Speech Team placed 4th out of 15 school at the Warsaw Invitational on Saturday, January 15. Moo Paw and Luna Tafolla were individial event champions in Discussion and Informative, respectively. Additional finalists were: Luna Tafolla (who was tripled-entered in Discussion, 4th in Storytelling, 6th in POI), Myah Yax (7th in Storytelling), Elijah Bault (5th in Prose, 3rd in Storytelling), Nick Todd (4th in Discussion), Celeste Gomez (4th in Impromptu), Halle VanCuren (3rd in Informative, 5th in Radio).
