Diabetes Alert Day® is on March 22, 2022! Observed annually on the fourth Tuesday in March by the American Diabetes Association, Diabetes Alert Day is a one-day “wake-up call” that focuses on the seriousness of diabetes and the importance of understanding your risk. Find more info here.
Here’s a poem shared by our friend Pam Roller for Diabetes Alert Day:
Diabetes Alert Day
Observed in March is Diabetes Alert Day
It is always on the fourth Tuesday
This is a one-day wake up call
It should be taken seriously by all
The purpose is an awareness message to convey
Those with diabetes symptoms shouldn’t delay
Please see your doctor right away
To prevent future complications early
Screening or detection must be done promptly
We’ve been going through a global pandemic
But diabetes is a worldwide epidemic
Awareness is the key in fighting the disease
Preventing, managing, and finding a cure can put us at ease
Risks are very important to know
Diabetes affects over 30 million Americans or so
Seven million aren’t aware they have it
A reason to pay your physician a visit
Projections indicate 700 million adults could have diabetes by 2045
May this timely reminder on Diabetes Alert Day help keep you alive
