Tyson Foods awards scholarships to local students

Last Updated on June 3, 2022 by Tyson Foods, Inc.

Logansport, Ind. – Tyson Foods’ Logansport facility has awarded $10,000 in scholarships to four area students through its annual local scholarship program: two $1,500 scholarships, one $3,000 scholarship and one $4,000 scholarship.

The scholarships will help four individuals with their college or university education-related expenses, such as tuition, books, academic fees and room and board. Tyson Foods awards scholarships to children of current team members based on student performance, involvement in school and the community, and financial need.

“It’s extremely rewarding to support our team members’ children by giving them greater access to opportunities to continue their education after graduation,” said Donald Brophy, complex manager of Tyson Foods’ Logansport plant. “We’re proud of our ongoing contributions that help serve the communities where our team members work, live and play.”

The 2022 Logansport Tyson Foods scholarship recipients are:

  • Brayan Escobedo, son of Tyson team members Hector G. Escobedo and Eufrosina Arriaga
  • Juan Valencia, son of Tyson team member Maria Valencia
  • Kayla Fountain, daughter of Tyson team member Mark Fountain
  • Celine Castillo, daughter of Tyson team member Ruben Castillo

Scholarships are one of the many ways Tyson Foods supports its team members across the country. The company strives to be the most sought-after place to work and ensure team members have the tools and resources they need to be successful such as on-boarding and regular training; reliable transportation; a safe workplace; competitive compensation and benefits; and life skills training. Tyson Foods also offers a variety of educational services for team members through its Upward Academy program and its recent announcement to provide access to free education for all team members.
