June 22,2022 press release from Logansport Police Department.

On June 26, 2022 at approximately 12:52 p.m., Logansport Police were dispatched to the area of the 1800 block of Meadlawn Avenue in Logansport in reference to suspicious activity.

Upon arrival to the area, Logansport Police located a male subject outside of the residence. Once the male observed officers, he then ran into the residence. Logansport officers were watching the front of the residence and observed a red vehicle pull into one of the neighbor’s drive.

Upon the driver of the red vehicle observing that the police were in the area, attempted to back out of the neighbor’s drive, backing over a large rock that was placed at the end of the drive. The vehicle then drove south bound on Meadlawn at a high rate of speed. Officers followed the vehicle attempting to conduct a traffic stop.

The driver of the red vehicle lost control of the vehicle in the 1400 block of Michigan Ave., causing the vehicle to be facing northbound again. The vehicle then continued northbound on Meadlawn. The vehicle then went left of center, striking a Logansport Police Department vehicle head on in the 1500 block of Meadlawn Ave. The Indiana State Police are working the scene of the crash.

The Logansport Police officer was transported to Logansport Memorial Hospital for minor injuries and was later released. The driver of the red vehicle was transported to Logansport Memorial Hospital and later transported out via helicopter for further treatment. His conditions at this time are unknown. The driver of the red vehicle was identified as 48-year-old John Marks from Walton, Indiana. This case is still under investigation and further arrests are possible.
