Daphne Slusher will begin serving as Cass County treasurer on September 1, 2022.
Slusher says she was unanimously selected by precinct committeemen during a caucus at Cass County Republican headquarters on Monday, August 22.
Slusher will serve the remainder of the term of Cindy Howard, who announced earlier this month that she would be resigning from the office effective August 31.
Howard ran against Slusher and won the Republican nomination for Cass County treasurer in the primary election in 2020 and was unopposed on the November ballot. Howard was sworn into office on Nov. 24, 2020, earlier than anticipated by virtue of a precinct caucus to fill the vacancy left by former treasurer Kathy Adair.
Slusher says she brings close to eight years of experience and knowledge to the office, having been the previous chief deputy treasurer, and she is looking forward to serving Cass County in a dedicated and professional fashion.
