Logansport, Ind. – Food Finders Food Bank announced today a $25,000 donation from Tyson Foods to help fund mobile food pantry distributions. This grant ensures that Food Finders is able to deliver fruit, vegetables and protein directly to people in need.
“Food Finders is grateful to Tyson Foods for its commitment to help people facing hunger in the counties that surround their Logansport plant,” said Katy Bunder, president and CEO of Food Finders. “The partnership between Food Finders and Tyson Foods will bring additional mobile pantries to the community.”
According to Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap study, 12.3 percent, or 4,620 residents of Cass County are food insecure and 14.4 percent or 11,850 residents of Howard County are food insecure. Child food insecurity rates are even higher at 15.6 percent for Cass and 20.2 percent for Howard County.
Food Finders Food Bank distributed more than 13.8 million pounds of food through its direct service programs and 100 hunger relief agencies across North Central Indiana last year. This grant will help the food bank provide consistent monthly mobile pantry distributions in Cass and Howard Counties. This is the sixth year that the food bank has received a grant from Tyson Foods for hunger relief efforts.
