Influenza A update from Logansport Community School Corporation

Logansport Community School Corporation shared information about confirmed cases of Influenza A in posts on their website and social media today.

The post on the LCSC website states:

Logansport Community School Corporation would like to inform you that we have had several confirmed cases of Influenza A in our schools.  The flu is very contagious and can quickly spread from person to person.  Please read the letter from our LCSC School Nurses (it is in both English and Spanish) and the information sheet from the Indiana State Department of Health.

Here’s the full text of the letter:

November 16, 2022
Dear Logansport Community School Corporation Families,

This letter is to inform you that there have been several confirmed Influenza A cases in our schools.

The flu is very contagious and can quickly spread from person to person. People with the flu may be able to infect others from 1 day before getting sick to 5 to 7 days after symptoms begin.

Signs and Symptoms of the flu may include:

● high fever,
● cough,
● sore throat,
● congestion,
● body aches,
● headache,
● chills,
● fatigue,
● vomiting or diarrhea.

If you suspect you or a family member is sick, contact your Healthcare Provider for further instructions.

When can my child return to school?
Keep your child home for at least 24 hours after the fever is gone WITHOUT THE USE OF FEVER REDUCING MEDICATION (Tylenol and/or Ibuprofen) and 24 hours after vomiting and/or diarrhea subsides.

Call your school nurse with any questions!
