Lewis Cass Schools in Cass County, Indiana have announced that the middle school and high school will go to Virtual Learning starting Tuesday, November 8, 2022 through Friday, November 11, 2022, and returning to school on Monday, November 14, 2022.
Lewis Cass Elementary School will continue to attend school as scheduled.

Here is the text of the email sent by Superintendent Tim Garland on Nov. 7, 2022:
This is Dr. Garland superintendent of Lewis Cass Schools. I want to provide everyone with an update on student absenteeism and how it is affecting Lewis Cass Schools. Student absenteeism for all of Lewis Cass Schools is approximately 12%. However, the elementary is at 8% and the middle school and high school are at a combined 20%. We saw the same absentee numbers on Friday and thought the weekend would lower the absenteeism and unfortunately it did not. We are also seeing staff numbers increase due to sickness, which adds to an already difficult situation.
The 20% does equal the state threshold for absenteeism and therefore we need to take a few days out at the middle school and high school to allow our staff and students to return to good health. The middle school and high school will to go to Virtual Learning starting Tuesday, November 8th through Friday, November 11th, returning to school on Monday, November 14th. All middle school and high school students are expected to log into Google Meet based on their Virtual learning schedule and it is their responsibility to complete the work provided. The only extra-curricular activities that will be allowed to practice are our varsity sports. See your varsity coach for further details. The elementary school will continue to attend school as scheduled. The elementary Veterans program will still be held at the high school auditorium as planned. We will also continue with the Nov. 9th two hour delay as scheduled. Thank you and stay healthy.
Virtual learning:
In-person student instructional days definition;
● “Virtual student instructional days” that consist of at least 50% “teacher directed
synchronous instruction;” or
● A combination of both in-person and “virtual student instructional days.”
