Diabetes Alert Day 2023

Last Updated on March 28, 2023 by Pam Roller

Lifelong educator Pam Roller shares this poem in observance of Diabetes Alert Day, which is March 28, 2023:

Lifelong educator Pam Roller with her emotional support dog, Patches

Observed annually in March is Diabetes Alert Day

And it is always on the fourth Tuesday

This is a once a year, one-day wake up call

That should be taken seriously by one and all

The purpose is an awareness message to convey

Those with diabetes symptoms shouldn’t delay

Don’t hesitate, please see your doctor right away

To prevent future diabetes complications early

Screening or detection must be done promptly

The world has been going through a global pandemic

But diabetes is still a worldwide epidemic

Awareness is the key in fighting the disease

Preventing, managing, and finding a cure can put us at ease

Educating my community with the latest information and facts

Could spare people from blindness, strokes, and heart attacks

Learning about the risks is very important to know

Diabetes affects 37 million Americans or so

Pre-diabetes affects ninety-six million U.S. adults; eight in ten aren’t aware they have it

A very good reason to pay your physician a visit

Projections indicate 700 million adults in the world could have diabetes by 2045

May this timely reminder on Diabetes Alert Day help keep you alive

My Emotional Support Dog, Patches, and I have been on a journey you never want to take

This poem is to encourage you to be aware of the signs of diabetes for your own sake
