Marilyn Ann Ray, 81, Logansport, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Chase Center.

Born March 18, 1942, in Logansport, she was the daughter of the late George E. and Sarah Iliene  (Overmyer) Troutman.

In 1948, she and her mother moved to Danville, Illinois, but spent all of her summers in Logansport with her grandparents: John Wesley and Elizabeth Jane Overmyer and her Aunt Normagene “GeeGee”.

A graduate of Douglas Grade School in Danville, she spent half of her sixth-grade year in 1954 in Tempe, Arizona, with her grandparents and aunt.  She was a graduate of the Danville High School and had attended the Danville Area Community College for two years.

On October 12, 2014, she was baptized by Pastor Darlene DeHaal.  She joined the Twelve Mile United Methodist Church.

Marilyn had worked at Steak ‘n Shake, Marty K’s Drive-in Mels Bros. Dept Store and the Faris Jewlery and Optical before beginning a career at General Electric Ballast Business Department.  From September 1960 to September 985, at which time Walmont Industries bought into GE, changing the name to GE/Valmont Electric, Danville, Illinois. She had served a total of 34 years when the company moved to Juarez, Mexico – closing the Danville plant in 1994.  She then worked for CCL Custom Mfg. until 2002 in the shipping and receiving department.  In 2002, she moved back to Logansport and worked as a cashier at Wal-Mart until her retirement on June 8, 2007.

While in Danville, she bowled for several year, and served as the secretary/treasurer of the Monday GE Bowling League.  She was also the secretary of the Friday Nigh Bowling League.  She had served as secretary/treasurer of the Convoy Breakers CB Club in Hoopeston, Illinois, and was also a member of the General Electric “Dance” Women’s Club where she had served as secretary ne board member.  She was active as a board member of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary in Danville, Illinois.  Marilyn also took photography classes at the DACC and captured pictures of weddings, family photos, birthdays, and wedding anniversary celebrations – more as a hobby for friends and family.  She loved spending time with her Maltese, Trixie Ann Ray, who she also called “Sassy Boots” a lot.

She is survived by two brothers, Richard Lee Troutman, and George Allen Troutman (Kathy), all of Logansport; two nephews, Michael Edward Troutman, Springfield, Springfield, MO, and Jason Allen Cripe (Raquel), of Logansport.; two nieces. Nicole Marie Troutman, Springfield, MO, and Aubrey Nicole Aubrey, Logansport; great-nephews: Brady Allen Cripe, Jakson Charles Combs, and Wallace Allen Scott Aubrey, all of Logansport; a great niece, Emilee Lynn Cripe, of Kokomo; aunt, Normagene N. Overmyer Mitchum, Orlando, FL; and numerous Overmyer and Troutman cousins and family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her wonderful and very loving (step) “Mom” Mary Alice Seward Troutman; her infant daughter, Tina Marie Allen; infant brother and sister set of twins, Harold Louis and Kathlene Iliene Troutman, and an infant brother Edward Charles Shull.  Also preceding her in death were her uncles, John (Jack) Overmyer, Edgar Overmyer, Benny Overmyer, and Harold Troutman, aunts, Mary Troutman Shaw, Grace Marie Troutman Jordan. and Clara Alice Shoup Troutman, as well as her Overmyer aunts, Ella Day, Eda Mae Williamson; Sylvia McDonald. Myrtle Packard McKeever, and Elizabeth “Betty” Sutton; and three step-gathers, Harol G. Bohland, Charles Wyne Shull, and Verland E. “Mac” McCann. Her nephew. Pastor Jeremy Aubrey preceded her in death in 2020.
