Donato was given the award for her work on Senate Enrolled Act 464, which states that the juvenile court does not have jurisdiction over an individual for certain offenses if the individual was between the ages of 12 and 18 at the time of the alleged violation and is over 21 when charged with the offense.
“I am proud to have worked with IPAC and the victim and their family who bravely brought this issue to light through their story,” Donato said. “It’s been a long journey getting this legislation passed, and it’s an honor to receive this award. I am looking forward to seeing the good it will do for our community moving forward.”
