Two vehicle crash in Cass County kills one

On Thursday, February 22, 2024 at approximately 12:13 p.m., Cass County Central Dispatch received a call of a two-vehicle personal injury crash at State Road 29 and SR 25 (Tyson Exchange). Deputy David Wells responded to the crash along with several other public safety agencies and deputies. The responding agencies included the Logansport Police Department, Logansport Fire Department and Cass County Emergency Medical Services. Initial scene assessment found an eastbound passenger car on SR 25 was struck by a northbound pickup truck on SR 29.

Cynthia Everly, 62, of Lafayette, IN was driving 2008 Subaru Impreza eastbound on the State Road 25 exit rampt to US 24/US 35 when she failed to yield to a northbound 2013 Chevrolet Silverado. The Chevrolet was driven by Chester Clark, 69, of Lafayette, IN.

Chester Clark was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Cynthia Everly was transported to IU Arnett in Lafayette by Cass County Emergency Medical Services after extrication by Logansport firefighters. She later succumbed to her injuries.

Deputy Wells stated, “This is an unfortunate incident. Ms. Everly’s injuries were increased because she was not wearing her seatbelt. Mr. Clark was wearing his seatbelt and received minor injuries.”

Family of the deceased has been notified.

The crash is still under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with additional information is asked to- contact the Sheriff’s Office at 574-753-7800.
