Communities in Senate District 18 receive more than $6.8 million in road-funding grants

Last Updated on April 11, 2024 by Senator Stacey Donato

STATEHOUSE — Communities in Senate District 18 will receive more than $6.8 million to improve roads and bridges through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program (CCMG), said State Sen. Stacey Donato (R-Logansport).

The CCMG, established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, aims to advance community infrastructure projects, strengthen local transportation networks and improve Indiana’s roads and bridges. Since its enactment, the program has awarded nearly $1.7 billion in state matching funds for local construction projects.

In Senate District 18, the following communities received grants:

  • Akron received $447,463.48;
  • Cass County received $1,336,615.61;
  • Fulton County received $1.5 million;
  • Howard County received $1,499,350.73;
  • Miami County received $1.5 million;
  • Rochester received $329,497.50; and
  • Silver Lake received $225,000.

“I am always proud to see communities in Senate District 18 receive funding from this beneficial program,” Donato said. “It is so important to keep our roads and bridges safe for everyone, and this funding will help with many improvements in our cities, towns and counties.”

Through the program, the Indiana Department of Transportation matches up to $1.5 million annually when localities invest in road and bridge repairs. Counties with populations fewer than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations fewer than 10,000 receive a 75%/25% match, while counties with populations greater than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations greater than 10,000 receive a 50%/50% match.

The CCMG offers two rounds of applications each year, with the next call for applications occurring in July of 2024.
