Logansport, Indiana – Logansport High School is proud to announce that its Rocket League team has secured a spot in the Indiana esports Network (IEN) State Finals, following an impressive victory in the AA semi-final match against the South Dearborn Knights. This follows local news that Logansport’s Unified esports Program had also made these same state finals through the Logansport Junior High School in the game Super Smash Bros. Ultimate!

The Logansport High School Rocket League team, comprised of Brayden Jordan, Mac Collins, Xander Wilson, and Tyler Holcomb, demonstrated exceptional skill and teamwork in the semi-final match, earning them a coveted position in the State Finals. Coached by Dave Packard, the team has worked tirelessly throughout their high school career to hone their abilities and compete at the highest level.

In a remarkable display of skill and unity, the Unified esports Super Smash Bros team has secured their spot in the highly anticipated state finals for the second year in a row. Unified esports, a groundbreaking initiative that brings together students with and without intellectual disabilities to compete on the same team, has been gaining traction in recent years. Spearheaded by passionate educators and driven by a desire to promote diversity and inclusion in competitive gaming, the team has defied expectations and proved that anyone can excel in the world of esports.

The State Finals will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Ball State University. The Logansport High School Rocket League team will be competing against HCCA after the Single A Final, which is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm. The matches can be viewed live on the “LOS_Scholastic” Twitch channel at www.twitch.tv/LOS_Scholastic. The Unified Super Smash Bros. team will compete against Noblesville after the Smash Single A Final, closer to 11:30 am on Manchester University’s Twitch Channel.

Rocket League Coach Dave Packard expressed confidence in his team’s abilities, stating, “Our team has put in countless hours of practice and dedication to reach this point. We are thrilled to be heading into the State Finals as the #1 seed and are eager to compete for fortune and glory!”

Unified Super Smash Bros. Coach Blair Lawson is proud of the students’ accomplishments.

“Making it to the state finals is a testament to the unwavering dedication and unity of our Unified esports team. Regardless of our backgrounds or abilities, we’ve shown that when we come together, we can achieve extraordinary things. This journey has been about more than just gaming; it’s been about breaking down barriers, fostering inclusivity, and proving that teamwork knows no limits. I am incredibly proud of what the team has accomplished so far, and we’re ready to give it our all at state finals.”
