On Monday, July 15, 2024, Westchester Drive became Dr. Greg Bell Way. During a brief ceremony, Logansport Mayor Chris Martin read a proclamation honoring Dr. Greg Bell as the sign at the intersection of Westchester Drive and High Street was removed and a new one was hung in its place.

Bell competed in the long jump at Indiana University, winning two NCAA titles and coming within about an inch of Jesse Owens’ world record twice. At the Melbourne Olympics in 1956, he won the long jump, becoming the first native Hoosier to be an individual gold medalist in track and field.

Dr. Bell moved to Logansport where he served as director of dentistry at the Logansport State Hospital for fifty years, retiring in 2020.

Prior to the ceremony, the Logansport Street Department presented Dr. Bell with his own full-sized street sign.
