
Preparing for campus emergencies

The Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium “Crisis Management for School Based Incidents” course was held today in Cass County. The course was held at Logansport High School and arranged by the Cass County Emergency Management Agency. Funding was provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
This course is for school administrators and emergency responders to educate rural public safety personnel as well as school administrators and staff to effectively respond to an emergency involving a school building or an entire school system. The training is designed to public safety partners including law enforcement with a foundation of knowledge and skills that will enable them to progressively establish a school-based emergency response plan and crisis management team through information sharing and training.
Participants came from a wide geographic area, some traveling multiple hours to attend.
