Logansport, IN – Security Federal Savings Bank is proud to announce that our president and CEO, Annette Russell, was recognized by the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA) with the esteemed Leaders in Banking Excellence award. This prestigious honor was presented at a special ceremony in Indianapolis on August 2, 2024. The award celebrates outstanding leaders who have made significant contributions to Indiana banks and communities. Russell, alongside two other distinguished members of the Indiana banking community, was inducted into the 2024 class of Leaders in Banking Excellence.

The award ceremony featured presentations by notable Indiana dignitaries. Honorees received an ebony plaque etched with their portrait and biography, with identical crystal plaques to be permanently displayed in the IBA offices in Indianapolis. This award represents the highest honor bestowed by the Association.

Annette Russell’s career is marked by numerous achievements and pioneering efforts in the banking sector. She is a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking and the Graduate School of Bank and Investment and Financial Management. Russell has been a trailblazer for women and diversity in Indiana banking, serving as the first female chair of the Indiana Bankers Association. Appointed by Gov. Mike Pence to the Indiana Board of Depositories in 2016, she was also honored with the Circle of Corydon by Gov. Eric Holcomb in 2017.

Under Annette’s visionary leadership, Security Federal Savings Bank has experienced remarkable growth and transformation. When she began her tenure, the bank had $170 million in assets with three branches in two markets. Today, we proudly serve our community with nearly $400 million in assets and eight branches across five markets. Annette’s dedication and strategic initiatives have been integral to this expansion, reflecting her commitment to excellence and community development.

Her leadership extends beyond the banking industry, having chaired the Ivy Tech Kokomo board of trustees and the Logansport/Cass County Economic Development Corporation. Additionally, she has served on the boards of the Logansport Hospital, Cass County Chamber of Commerce, and Special Olympics of Cass County.
