LOGANSPORT – Day & Genda Funeral Homes owner Pat Day is excited to share that he has joined forces with the Gundrum & Smith families to acquire ownership of Gundrum Funeral Home in Logansport, Indiana.

This transaction, although an acquisition on paper, is strongly built on partnership and expanding the “family”. The Smith & Gundrum family, longtime owners and staff of the Gundrum facility, are looking to the future and realize they would like more time to focus on their family. Meanwhile, Pat and his staff felt this was a wonderful opportunity that fit with their “Putting Family First” mission. When discussions ensued, it was never about a transfer of control. Instead, the goal is an ease of transition over time, built on partnership and continuity of service and staff.

“Nothing is changing for our Logansport family and patrons,” shared Chris Smith, former Vice President at Gundrum. “Our family will continue to very much be a part of everyday operations and seeing your families through their times of need. We will just occasionally have some time off to focus on our families and look toward retirement. Meanwhile, Pat and his team are welcomed into the Gundrum family with open arms, bringing their ideas and service possibilities to the business.”

You will still see the familiar faces of Tom and Beverly Gundrum as well as Steve Hardy and Kevin Smith, when he is not putting time in with the Logansport Fire Department.  Kyle will remain a part of operations also while moving his day-to-day career to the Dykeman Park Golf Course in Logansport.

Current families with pre-need arrangements at Gundrum will continue to have their needs served just as before, with no changes needed. You will receive a letter sharing this news as well as what to expect next.

“We couldn’t be happier to be joining the Gundrum family,” shared Pat Day, new owner. “My wife Tashia and I feel like this is the ideal scenario to grow our family with like-minded people. We are excited to bring our community involvement mindset to Logansport and become a part of this community. And we look forward to serving families of Cass County with the same care and love that the Gundrum and Smith families have over the years.”
