State Sen. Stacey Donato (R-Logansport) gathered with fellow legislators at the Statehouse on Tuesday, Nov. 19 for Organization Day – the ceremonial start of the 124th Indiana General Assembly.

Organization Day includes the swearing in of new and returning members of the General Assembly, including Donato, who take the formal oath of office to begin a new term. This day also marks the annual first roll call of all state lawmakers and gives each Senate and House of Representatives caucus the opportunity to organize in preparation for the 2025 legislative session. By state law, the 2025 session will conclude on or before April 29.

During the first session of each General Assembly, lawmakers craft a comprehensive budget to fund government services for the next two fiscal years.

“I am proud to be returning to the Statehouse once again to serve and represent Hoosiers from Senate District 18,” Donato said. “My colleagues and I have been working hard this summer to learn more about how to address important issues such as chronic absenteeism in schools, a topic I brought forward through legislation last year. It is my hope we can further address this problem in our state using everything we have learned during the interim.”

As the 2025 session gets underway, Donato encourages residents of Senate District 18 to contact her with any questions or comments they may have. Donato can be reached by filling out aContact Me” form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Donato or by phone at 800-382-9467.
