First day of patrol after Academy graduation

Caine Padgett was administered his oath of office on July 1, 2024. Deputy Padgett received local training and orientation before he started classes at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) in Plainfield, IN on August 26, 2024. Deputy Padgett graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy on December 13, 2024, with his classmates of the 234th session. December 17, 2024, is Deputy Padgett’s first day of patrol after completing the state mandated training. He will patrol with field training officers until he completes the requirements for solo patrol.

Sheriff Ed Schroder stated “Deputy Padgett will be an asset to the Sheriff’s Office. Caine is no stranger to Cass County as he had been employed as a corrections officer before joining the ranks of the road patrol merit deputies.”

Deputy Padgett is a 2018 graduate of Lewis Cass High School and a resident of Galveston, IN. He participated in the Criminal Justice Program at the Logansport Career Center while in high school.
