School threats lead to arrest in Cass County, Indiana

On Monday, Dec. 16, 2024, Cass County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Tyler Hanna, assigned to Lewis Cass Schools as a school resource officer, was alerted to a student possessing multiple weapons and making threats to other students.

Deputy Hanna detained the suspect and began a criminal investigation prior to alerting school officials. The student was detained before lockdown procedures could be initiated by the staff.

The weapons possessed by the student did NOT include any firearms.

The 15-year-old male student was detained and transported to the Allen County Juvenile Detention Center pending a court date in Cass County.

A search warrant for the student’s residence was obtained by other Cass County Deputies. The warrant was served in the morning of December 16, 2024. Further evidence including a potential target list was seized during the execution of the search warrant.

Lewis Cass School Administration Staff, Cass County Juvenile Probation, Walton Police, and the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office assisted in this investigation.

There will be no further information released on this incident.
