Logansport Memorial Hospital implements mandatory mask protocol for staff and visitors effective immediately
Last Updated on January 17, 2025 by Cass County Communication Network
Logansport Memorial Hospital and the community have seen a significant spike in respiratory infections, including RSV, influenza, and COVID-19 over the past weeks, including LMH staff. Because of this trend, Logansport Memorial Hospital will be implementing a mandatory masking protocol for the next two weeks for all staff and visitors. This will be effective immediately. Illness rates will be re-evaluated in two weeks to determine if this can be lifted or will need extended.
Visitors will also be required to wear a mask at all times while in the building during this time. If you are a patient of LMH for any reason, you must also wear a mask.
Reminders during respiratory illness outbreaks:
- Practice good hand hygiene.
- Avoid touching your face.
- Do not touch the front of your mask.
- If your mask gets moist or soiled, change it within 15 minutes
An enhanced cleaning protocol will be done by our Environmental Services department to help reduce the risk of spreading respiratory illnesses. Surfaces such as doorknobs, elevator buttons, light switches, and hand railings present opportunity for increased risk of transmission. Be sure to perform hand hygiene after touching frequently touched public surfaces such as these.
As a reminder, LMH is already in visitor restrictions due to the respiratory season and the spike in community respiratory illnesses. Visitor restrictions include 2 healthy adults at a time to visit inpatients. No children under 18 are allowed as visitors.
