Juvenile arrested for intimidation with a deadly weapon in two separate incidents

The Logansport Police Department, with the cooperation of the Logansport School Corporation, has arrested a juvenile in connection with two separate incidents involving intimidation with a deadly weapon. The weapon has been collected by police and is being held at the Logansport Police Department. It was believed to have been a real weapon at the time of the offenses, however after being collected was determined to have been an airsoft gun.

The investigation was initiated following reports of a juvenile suspect with a gun in two unrelated events off school property and after school hour. Working closely with administrators from the Logansport School Corporation, officers were able to quickly gather critical information leading to the identification of the subject.

With the support of school officials, the juvenile was safely taken into custody and is currently being held on home detention with a GPS ankle bracelet. Due to the age of the suspect, no further identifying details will be released.

“We take any threat involving a weapon extremely seriously,” said Chief Travis Yike of the Logansport Police Department. “This arrest is the result of quick communication and a strong partnership between our officers and the Logansport School Corporation. We remain committed to keeping our schools and community safe.
