Logansport, IN – Prosecutor Noah Schafer announced that Scott E. VanArsdale, 39, of Logansport, was found guilty of multiple counts of child molesting and sexual battery last Friday.  The charges pertained to four victims and spanned a period of several years.  At the conclusion of the trial, Schafer presented further evidence of VanArsdale’s multiple prior felony convictions and the jury returned a second verdict finding the defendant guilty of being a habitual felon.  Presiding Judge Lisa Swaim set the matter for sentencing on April 24.  Vanarsdale faces a potential sentence of up to 137 years in prison.

Said Schafer of the trial and verdict, “We are exceptionally proud of the work of the Cass County Sherrif’s Department in investigating the case, and of the victims for bravely standing up to face the man who violated them.  We are grateful for the attention and efforts of the jury who considered the evidence and returned a verdict that will remove a dangerous offender from Cass County for good.”
