
Two vehicle crash at US 24 and 600 E in Cass County kills one

On Saturday, July 5th, 2025, at approximately 12:04 PM, Cass County Central Dispatch received calls for a two-vehicle crash on US 24 at the County Road 600 East intersection.
Sergeant Pat Zeider, along with several other public safety agencies and deputies, responded to the crash. The responding agencies included the New Waverly Fire Department, Walton Fire Department, Logansport Police Department, Cass County Coroner’s Office, Cass County Emergency Management Agency, and Cass County Emergency Medical Services. Initial scene assessment found a northbound pick-up truck on County Road 600 East struck a motorcycle travelling westbound on US 24.
Kobi Martindale, age 21, of Kewanna, IN, was driving a 2011Chevrolet Silverado 2500 northbound on County Road 600 East when he crossed the eastbound lanes of US 24 and then entered the westbound lanes of US 24, failing to yield the right of way to a westbound motorcycle. His vehicle struck a westbound 2013 Harley-Davidson driven by James Dolmanet, age 28, of Wabash, IN. The Chevrolet came to a stop in the intersection, and the Harley Davidson came to a stop northwest of the intersection.
Kobi Martindale and his passenger refused medical treatment at the scene.
A medical helicopter was summoned for James Dolmanet due to the life-threatening injuries he received in the crash. He was pronounced deceased before the helicopter was able to transport him to a trauma center. The Dolmanet family has been notified.
Impaired driving is not believed to have been a factor in this crash. The roadway was closed for approximately two hours for the investigation and removal of debris.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office crash reconstructionist is still investigating the crash.
