Evan Michael Higgins, 37, of Logansport, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, August 1, 2025.

Born November 30, 1987, in Logansport, he was the son of Kimbra (Llewellyn) and Derek Forgey, and Mike Higgins.

Evan served his country with honor in the 101st Airborne, Bravo Battery 3-320th Field Artillery Regiment, and deployed to Afghanistan from 2010 to 2011. After his time in the military, he built a career as a skilled tool and die maker.

But Evan was more than his job or service—he was pure heart and high energy, rolled into one unforgettable soul. He loved being outside: camping, hiking, kayaking… if it involved fresh air and a little adventure, Evan was all in. He had a fearless streak, the kind that made people shake their heads and smile.

Evan filled the room with a guffawing laugh. (He would laugh at just the thought of you looking up that word in the dictionary.) His smile had a spark to it. You didn’t just notice it—you felt it. Evan had a way of making strangers feel like old friends. He was a free spirit, and the world was better with him in it.

Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Beppy and Paps Forgey; his father, Mike Higgins; his sister, Amber Ochoa; his brother, Zakary Forgey (Megan Barrett); his beloved nieces, Sophia and Lennon; nephews, Rayden and Camden; grandparents, LaNita Llewellyn, Doug Forgey, and Jewell Ford; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Bob Llewellyn and Jim Higgins and his grandmother, Shelbia Forgey.

A celebration of Evan’s life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fisher Funeral Chapel & Cremation Service.

You’re invited to share memories and condolences on his Tribute Wall at www.fisherfuneralchapel.com.
