George Chris Kistler, age 82, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025. He was born on April 6, 1943, in Royal Center, Indiana, to Raymond and Florence Kistler.
George earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Manchester College. He began his career in the natural gas industry and later worked for Johnson & Johnson before moving into the cement industry, where he spent the majority of his professional life. Over the years, he held numerous roles—from Plant Chemist to Vice President of Lafarge Midwest. Known throughout the industry for his technical and operational expertise, he earned a patent for a process adopted company-wide and was instrumental in setting several production records. More than his professional accomplishments, George was admired as a manager who deeply cared for his employees and co-workers, many of whom remained lifelong friends.
George’s love for people, strong faith, kindness, generosity, resilience, and humor left lasting impressions wherever he lived—from Logansport, Indiana, where he retired, to the Houston area, where he spent his final years. He had a passion for woodworking, designing and building many pieces of furniture over the years for friends and family. He also had a remarkable talent for fixing or building just about anything—from do-it-yourself repairs to building an entire house in Camden, Indiana, where he did everything from the foundation to the roof—even making the bricks himself. He gladly used those skills to serve others—helping neighbors, supporting churches, and participating in mission trips.
He is survived by his sons and their wives, Aaron and Natalie Kistler, and Matthew and Martika Kistler; his grandchildren, Andrew, Aubrey, Abigail, Analia, Myles, Maezy; and his great-grandchildren, Harrison, Hudson, Dallas, and Caroline.
George will be laid to rest in Logansport, Indiana, alongside his beloved wife of 50 years, Shirley, who preceded him in death.
