Cass Area Transit, the public transportation provider for residents of Cass County, has announced the adoption of its Strategic Plan for 2025–2027.

Additionally, they are launching a new mobile-friendly website, www.casstransit.com, designed to enhance community access to transportation services and information. The website will provide quick access to bus schedules, fare details, service announcements, and organizational updates.

Founded in 1996, Cass Area Transit provides nearly 75,000 rides annually to residents of all ages—from seniors to schoolchildren—and remains committed to providing safe, reliable, and affordable transportation. The new strategic plan outlines a forward-looking approach to enhance service quality, improve communication, and strengthen financial and operational stability.

“Our mission is to connect Cass County residents with dependable transportation, and this plan is a roadmap for how we will do that over the next three years,” said Shane Powell, Transit Director. “We’ve listened to our riders, our staff, and our community partners, and this plan reflects both our challenges and our opportunities to grow.”

Strategic Plan Highlights (2025–2027)

  • Training & Workforce Development – Recruiting and retaining quality drivers and staff,
implementing standardized training modules, and providing safety and governance
training for both staff and board members.
  • Communication – Strengthening internal communication and public outreach, including
the launch of a new website, consistent staff updates, and an expanded social media
    presence.
  • Reputation & Rider Experience – Building community trust through customer service training, rider satisfaction surveys, and sharing rider success stories.
  • Financial Sustainability – Growing ridership by 10% annually, securing business partnerships, expanding Medicaid ride contracts, and achieving cost savings through efficient vendor agreements.
  • Equipment & Safety – Maintaining a safe, reliable fleet through a vehicle replacement plan, detailed maintenance schedules, and strengthened vendor partnerships.

The Cass Area Transit Board of Directors emphasized that the plan is a living document,
designed to evolve in response to community needs. Progress will be reviewed on a monthly,
quarterly, and annual basis to ensure accountability.

“Transportation is more than getting from point A to point B—it’s about opportunity, independence, and quality of life,” said Chris Miller, Chair of the Cass Area Transit Board of Directors. “This plan ensures we remain a dependable resource for our community today and into the future.”
