Kayla Sue Warner, born July 7, 1992, in Logansport, passed away on September 18, 2025, at the age of 33.
Kayla was a bright, creative spirit whose art and words touched the lives of many. She was a gifted painter and writer, known for her honesty, vibrant use of color, and the way she poured her heart into everything she created. Through her creativity, she left behind glimpses of her heart: bold, vulnerable, and beautiful.
She attended Ball State University, where she was an active member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, serving as Vice President of Recruitment and Vice President of Event Planning. After graduation, she continued her involvement as AAC Recruitment. She later moved to Pensacola, Florida, where she taught grade school. Teaching reflected her deep compassion and her desire to help others grow, just as she did through her writing and art. She was also active in her community, serving as treasurer for the Democratic Women’s group in Florida.
She loved animals, nature, and creating beauty out of everyday life. To know Kayla was to know someone deeply empathetic, brave in her struggles, and fiercely loved by her family.
She is survived by her parents, Mike and Tammy Warner; her siblings Nicole Mosby (Mavrick), Amanda Maloy (Alex), and Michael Warner (Xandra); her sister-in-law Holly McKinley; her grandmother Sue Morrison; and her beloved pets Piper, Sam, and Frodo. She is also remembered with love by her Pensacola family, including her closest friend, Doug Bauer; her boyfriend, Brooks Ledger; and by many aunts, cousins, nieces, a nephew, and friends who shared in her journey.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Dustin McKinley; grandparents Deane and Kay Warner; and Ron Morrison, whom she now joins in eternal rest.
In honor of Kayla’s memory, the family encourages support for mental health and suicide prevention efforts. Her story is a reminder that even the brightest spirits can face unseen battles.
When you think of Kayla, think of the way she found beauty everywhere — in flowers, in colors, in the smallest details of nature. She often carried flowers with her, a reflection of her own spirit: vibrant, delicate, and full of life.
We will carry her colors with us always.
