Grant Michael Prather, 16, of Walton, ran to Jesus on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis.  He was born February 24, 2009 to Michael and Stephany Prather.

Grant was a sophomore at Carroll Jr. Sr. High School in Flora where he was loved by all.  He enjoyed the social life of all the activities he was involved in.  He was so proud to be the Honorary Captain of the football team and took the job very seriously to lead the team to the football field on game day.  He was involved in 4-H and the highlight of his fair was greeting all his friends and family at the sheep show.  He loved to cook and enjoyed watching the Incredible Dr. Pol and Pioneer Woman on TV.  He had a love for music of all kinds.  He was an active member of Deer Creek Presbyterian Church; he loved to attend to get a little Jesus in him as he would say.

He is survived by his loving parents, Michael & Stephany Prather and the best little brother, Garrett of Walton.  He is also survived by Grammy & Pa, Bill and Susie Dyke, His favorite Aunt “Mo”- Monica Prather, his special 8-3 Mom, Anechia Nelson, who was by his side during school hours each day, and his chosen family, Jeff and Josh LeDonne.  He leaves behind his wonderful school family and all of his special friends and family in the community who love him dearly.  He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Jack Prather.

A celebration of Grant’s impactful life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School Gymnasium with Pastor David Smook officiating.  Private Burial will follow at Center Cemetery near Young America.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Grant Prather Memorial Fund c/o Carroll County Community Foundation, 215 W.
