Patricia Louise Cargile, 77, of Logansport, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Chase Center.

Born on December 30, 1947, in Logansport, she was the daughter of the late Gerald E. and Alice Imogene (Gano) Waters.

Patricia was a graduate of the Indiana School for the Deaf in Indianapolis. She married Don Cargile on June 6, 1976 at her parent’s home in rural Logansport. They shared a devoted life together until Donald’s passing on February 12, 2016.

After graduation, Patty was employed at the Indiana School for the Deaf serving the very community that had shaped her.

Patty cherished her friendships deeply, especially the lifelong bonds she maintained with her deaf friends across the miles. Their connection was rooted in shared experience, mutual respect, and enduring love. As Helen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” That spirit of togetherness defined Patty’s life.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Patty Waters of Logansport, along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Patty was preceded in death by her sister, Jane Marie (Ronald) Neher, and two brothers, Carl (Janet) Waters and Dennis (Lisa) Waters.

In keeping with Patty’s wishes, no formal services will be held. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Beech Grove Cemetery in Muncie, Indiana.
