Holiday info and updates for 2025

🗑️ TRASH PICKUP

  • Galveston: Trash pickup will be on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025 and Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026 (not Friday) due to the holidays.
  • Royal Center: Trash pickup will be Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025 and Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026 due to the holidays.
  • Walton: Last trash pick-up with Waste Management for 2025 will be on Friday, Dec. 26 due to the holiday. Please be sure to leave your empty trash tote out by the road so Waste Management will be able to pick up ALL their totes on Monday, December 29. ONPOINT will be delivering each resident 1 toter per home on December 26 or 27. ONPOINT’s first trash pickup day will be on Friday, January 2, 2026 due to the Holiday. More info
  • Logansport:
    • GFL trash and recycle pick up for Christmas Eve Wednesday, December 24 will be picked up on Wednesday beginning at 5 a.m. Please have bins set out Tuesday the night before.
    • Christmas Day & New Year’s Day trash and recycle will run one day late and be picked up on Friday.
    • GFL would like to have residents put their Thursday & Friday bins out on Christmas Day & New Year’s Day evenings (Thursday). They will attempt to pick up as much as they can of both Thursday and Friday routes on Friday. Please set out before 5 a.m. Friday.

🌲 LIVE CHRISTMAS TREE DISPOSAL: The Logansport Street Department says you can place live Christmas trees by your trash receptacle for disposal. Make sure all bags, lights, ornaments and tree stands have been removed.

📮 MAIL DELIVERY

📬 USPS will be closed on Thursday, December 25, 2025 in observance of Christmas Day and on Thursday, January 1, 2026 in observance of New Year’s Day.

CLOSURES

💰 Check with your bank for their holiday hours.

🚐 Cass Transit will be closed Dec. 24, 25, and 26, and Dec 31, 2025, and Jan 1 and 2, 2026. In addition the City Bus will not run Dec. 27, 2025 and Jan. 3, 2026.

🏛️ The Cass County Government Building will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24, Thursday, Dec. 25, Friday, Dec. 26, Wednesday Dec. 31, 2025, Thursday, January 1 and Friday, January 2, 2026.

🏛️The Logansport City Building will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24, Thursday, Dec. 25, and Friday, Dec. 26, as well as Thursday, January 1 and Friday, January 2, 2026.

🔌 Logansport Utilities’ office hours will be adjusted on several days in December and January due to end of year processing and the observance of the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. The customer service office will be open with limited hours at the city building, 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 and Wednesday, December 31, 2025. All Logansport Utilities’ offices will be closed on Thursday, December 25, Friday, December 26, 2025, and Thursday, January 1, 2026.

🏛️ Galveston Town Hall will be closed on December 25 & 26 in celebration of Christmas. It will also be closed on January 1, for New Year’s Day.

♻️ Cass County Recycling District warehouse at 15 Biddle St. will be closed December 24, December 25, December 26, December 31, 2025 and January 1 & 2, 2026. The bins located throughout Cass County will not be switched out on those dates either. It is also that time of the year when the bins fill up extremely fast, please be courteous and break down your cardboard. Foil wrapping paper, bows, ribbons and trash go in your normal trash. Please DO NOT put anything outside of the bins if they’re full. Kindly wait until they are switched out.

🚗 All Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicle (BMV) branches will be closed Thursday, December 25, Friday, December 26, and Thursday, January 1 in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. Branches will resume regularly scheduled business hours on Saturday, December 27 following the Christmas holidays and Friday, January 2, following the New Year’s holiday. Customers can still conduct many transactions online at the myBMV website or at any of our kiosks during these holiday closures.

📚The Walton & Tipton Township Public Library will close at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31 and remain closed all day Thursday, Jan. 1 in honor of New Year’s Day. The library will reopen at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2,, 2026. To renew items, please call 574-626-2234 or send an email to waltonlibrary@walton.lib.in.us.

The Winter Solstice occurs on Sunday, Dec. 21 at 10:03 a.m.

Christmas Eve is Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Christmas Day is Thursday , Dec. 25.

Kwanzaa is celebrated from Friday, Dec. 26, 2025 to Thursday, January 1, 2026

New Year’s Eve is Wednesday, Dec. 31 and New Year’s Day is Thursday, January 1.

Three Kings’ Day, or Epiphany, is Tuesday, Jan. 6.
